EASY READ. Well written, great characters, good secondary cast, and a restrained romance which builds slowly. HOWEVER, the back stories are very contrived and despite a charming retelling, this is an engagement-charade story.

THE STORY revolves around school teacher, Shannon Duffy, and ex-hockey player, Dag McKendrick. Both Shannon and Dag are at a cross roads after life changing events. Shannon is grieving the loss of her family and decides against a high profile marriage to a political candidate. Dag, is adjusting to the end of his professional hockey career, and decides to buy a house and settle down. Spending time together during the Holiday season, a sweet, low-key romance develops and they realize they want a future together.

OVERALL, the characters are well written, and the dialog and every day interactions enhance the storyline. A low-key, romantic read.
