This book seemed more like filler material, as it was short and just stopped. I was very disappointed that it didn't seem to be a full book and was put on the market for monetary reasons instead of releasing a finished product. The first books in this series were a lot more substantial and were well written. This book could have been skipped in it's entirety as the story did not truly advance.Tags : Amazon.com: Journey of Thieves (Legends of Dimmingwood Book 5) eBook: C. Greenwood: Kindle Store, ebook,C. Journey of Thieves Legends of Dimmingwood Book 5 eBook C Greenwood Reviews
I really enjoyed all the books in this series. It was a riveting story line, and it held my attention. I normally don't purchase e-books since there are so many free ones out there, but this one was an exception. I highly recommend this one if you are into the sci-fi/fantasy genre.
An interesting follow up to this series, which I thought the author had abandoned. It looks like we will get yet one more, which is good. What is bad is that it is much too short and focused on too few characters, and avoids any motivational complexity. It is also infected with a heavy dose of futile-ism as the heroine finds lost family and immediately loses them again. I wonder if that presages a bad end to the whole series? Probably.
Love the story plot. Not too happy with Hound. She was arrogant , ungrateful , and seemed she had grown men acting like children , yes Ilan, yes Ilan, like they were stupid and she was sooo superior. A different personality for main character would have enhanced this story. Tarrac was a sissy in her mind all the time. I gave book 5 stars only because I did love the plot as I am an avid epic fantasy reader and it def held my interest. Author included many aspects of Magic Fantasy.
Book 5 follows in step and the story line flows along well. The interaction of only a few characters , limited but enough description, and short not drawn out battles, makes for a fast and enjoyable read. I think the return of the bow is very important to the story and makes me want to find out if things will change for the better and positive. The book should not be read alone and needs to read as a series. In general a great read for young and not so young alike. The fact that there is limited and less Gore than in most books of this type, is one of the things I like best.
Hope that book 6 not far off!
Enjoy dlcjr
I really enjoyed these books, but this tale struck me as being a little on the short side. There are way too many loose ends that may never be resolved. Relationships barely begin and the author snuffs them out. It is seriously disappointing. However, I like the plot twists which are clever. I always feel like I am on the cusp of a great revelation for the lead character which keeps me reading. Then I get to the end and feel a little cheated. Was the book worth the money? Yes. Was it worth my time? Yes. Will I read the next one that comes out? Yes. I just think more could have been done on this book.
This was good, almost as good as the first 4 in the series. C Greenwood is a good storyteller and writes well. The journey of Ilan and company moves forward, but not very far. Where they end up in this book is quite interesting but it is a very short book and seems truncated. If you only have one evening to set aside for reading, then this will be good for you. It be can be easily read it in that amount of time. If you're looking for something to really sink your literary teeth into and savor for a satisfying length of time, this isn't it. If you are a fan of the series then read it. Maybe this one short adventure will hold you over until the next installment. I really hope the next one is longer. All in all I did like it, but gave 4 stars due to the length.
Just finished the latest installment in the Legends of Dimmingwood series. I thought it was a really nice continuation to the series. I admit, it felt weird for Ilan to be taken out of the forest, but seeing her in new settings was a nice change, too. I also liked how this book offered glimpses of the world written about in Mistress of Masks it helped link the two series in my mind.
I think my favorite part of this book was the dragon people Ilan encountered. They were very original and, I thought, interesting enough to merit a future series of their own? Lots of room for exploration and expansion there!
All in all a great follow up novel. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
