One of my daughters favorite books. So I had to find it for her first baby!
This children's book is relatively unusual. For a book with only 24 pages, the plot is surprisingly and delightfully complex - though not too complex for my 5-year-old niece to follow. The ending can be considered "a surprise ending" - I won't say more - and is sure to delight Eeyore fans. I liked the inclusion of Pooh-specific details such as a Heffalump trap and the game Poohsticks. This book is not for all children, but it may be perfect for some.
I like these Golden Books Pooh stories. Although they are not A A Milne, they provide sweet and funny entertainment for the children, but also have a message. (We also have Pooh`s Sweetest Christmas.) This one is a story about Eeyore. It is about friendship and what sometimes happens with good intentions, as well as the importance of being yourself. My five year old likes Eeyore, but there are few stories which center on him, so we read this often.
I consider myself lucky enough to grab a set of Winnie the Pooh Little Golden Books set, with a slipcase even, and I wasn't very surprised to see that these versions from Golden Books are a pleasant read, both by the young and the old reading to their young. I've seen and own a couple of Disney's Winnie the Pooh and the ones from the Little Golden Books are by far the best.

It unravels the story as neatly as can be, very simple and direct, uses a very understandable set of vocabulary words and definitely doesn't contain too many of the lax, highly informal sublevel storytelling that other publishers print.

On the other hand, it's rather unfortunate to see the differences of Little Golden Books now and then. A lot, but not all, of older versions are more cleverly designed. I don't see why a lot of the latter-published Little Golden Books are now using the street-level language, words that will not find their way in the vocabulary of a child who appreciates the beauty of cultured language. In fact, the words used in other versions like the Grolier's are just too confusing because of a lot of dispensable details thrown in in bad measure here and there, letting the reader on from one point to another in disarray instead of a neat spiralling flow from beginning to end.

In Eeyore, Be Happy!, the font size is really large enough, perfect for the budding reader and the granddad/mom reading to their young. The illustration colors are vibrant and lively. Each page illustration-wise tells the story and builds up as you go along.

This book is worth your every penny, and more.
